Burgundy and royal blue

burgundy royal blue

j.crew minnie silk tank

Top:  Victoria’s Secret silk tank {old - also seen here paired with a maxi skirt and here in a super casual look…with my favorite summer sandals!}
Pants:  J.Crew Minnie in stretch twill {new!}
Necklace:  Gorjana
Bracelets:  Gorjana three-bead bracelet, Club Monaco/Gorjana leather wrap bracelet {loving the simple/delicate accessories this brand is currently offering}
Purse:  bought while in Poland in 2011 - no brand {similar}
Shoes:  Tory Burch Amalie sandals

Today’s thoughts:
1)  I have been itching to wear these pants, but wanted to be sure my outfit didn’t scream “fall” when it is still technically summer.  The solution - an airy royal blue tank :)
2)  You can really see my finger splint in these photos… only a few days left to go!
3)  Sorry for the lack of diversity of poses - I wan only able to snap a few quick shots.  It was either post one photo, or two very similar photos {one photo was probably sufficient, but I just couldn’t choose between these two…}

Summer blues

Another casual summer look…
I recently had a question about what I am holding in my photos.  It is my shutter release.  Since I take my own photos, it is easiest to use a release instead of repeatedly setting the self timer.  At first I tried to keep the shutter release hidden (behind purses, in pockets, etc), but my newest release has a rather weak signal and needs to be in the line of sight of my camera.  Until I get a new one (when this one breaks), it will be making an appearance in all my photos :)

Top:  Victoria’s Secret silk tank {3-4 years old, but they are still making the same style - also in print}
Bracelets:  Thrifted branch bangles, Club Monaco wrap bracelet, J.Crew
Sunglasses:  Armani Exchange
Factory tennis bracelet
Pants:  Joe Fresh {on sale for $4 - last summer’s purchase.  Similar here and here}
Shoes:  B Brian Atwood ‘Labrea’

Part of me really wanted to re-take these photos, but with limited time left in the day (yesterday), I didn’t have an opportunity take a second round.  For better or for worse, a large part of fashion blogging is actually photo composition. While I am by no means a photo pro, I know that had I taken these shots in my normal location (there were people around…grrrrr), or had I actually ventured out in public to shoot this outfit near something architectural, the clothes would have translated much much better.  Instead, I snapped a few sub-par photos next to my garage.  Classy.

Blazer:  J.Crew 1035 blazer
T-shirt:  Joe Fresh {old}
Pants:  London Jeans {from Victoria’s Secret}
Sunglasses:  Armani Exchange
Necklaces:  homemade {DIY instructions}
Purse:  Pour La Victoire ‘Haven’  (very similar, also from PLV)
Shoes:  Jean-Michel Cazabat ‘Ozara’

What do you think of the larger pictures?  Let me know!

Linen Woes

Linen baffles me.  It wrinkles soooo easily.  Yet it is a popular summer fabric that I (like a sucker) continue to buy and wear.  I literally ironed these shorts 3 minutes prior to taking these photos.  I feel this is a “disappointed head shake” moment.

Lesson: Wind
