Lately…

Two quick snap shots from otherwise failed photoshoots…

Coat:  Thrifted (I have been on the look-out for a nice tweed jacket for quite some time - similar here and here)
Shirt:  J.Crew Factory draped pocket tee
Pants:  J.Crew Factory Winnie twill pants (mini review - are exactly the same as the J.Crew Pixie pants with the exception of the zipper placement.  A much more cost effective option!)

I spent the weekend catching up on sewing projects, including finishing a DIY about how to make that tibi skirt {it’s actually REALLY simple}. I hope to have it posted this week or next :)

Coat:  Vintage
Scarf:  Dynamite
Sweater:  J.Crew cashmere cardigan
Blouse:  found at Winners
Pants:  J.Crew Full-length Minnie in bi-stretch wool {really liking these pants!  I also bought them in burgundy during J.Crew’s last sale blowout :) I already have a pair of the Minnie’s in twill, but they are not my favorite (because of the fabric).  The bi-stretch wool version is far better!}
Purse:  Vintage
Shoes:  Pour la Victoire Carmendy {also here}

Is anyone else sick of winter?  I don’t normally complain about the seasons, but this winter is just dragging on and on…
I know I’ve said it before, but wearing color really helps my break out of my winter funk…even if only for a short while.  For today’s look, I took a chance on pairing dark olive pants {thanks Wikipedia for help classifying this color!} with my vintage teal coat.  And I have to say, I am quite happy with the result!

An unusual pairing: burgundy and cobalt

burgundy wool coat royal blue

burgundy blue aritzia gap skinny

thrifted wool coat

Coat:  Thrifted
Blouse:  Aritzia
Long Sleeve Tee:  Jacob
Pants:  Gap Legging Jeans
Scarf:  Zellers
Purse:  Le Chateau
Shoes:  Naturalizer {old - 2006/07-ish}

So happy January is almost over!  The unseasonably cold weather is making it hard to enjoy winter.  I will be much happier in March when the snow starts to melt and the temperatures begin to rise…
In the mean time, I have been making an effort to test drive unusual color pairings like burgundy and cobalt/royal blue.
Also see my teal + burgundy outfit here {one of my favorite winter looks to-date}.

I am now officially on holidays!  This is the first year I have opted for a slightly longer Christmas vacation, and I am pretty excited.  We don’t have much planned other than visiting with friends and family.  I am very much looking forward to two weeks of relaxing, sewing, skiing, and maybe painting the basement (it needs a facelift - the walls are currently a terrible color of puke yellow…).
